Purposes of the Informal Net

Some might be wondering, "What is the Informal Net all about?" Well, all things naturally tend towards mission creep but when the Cincinnati GMRS Informal Net was created, the original purposes were:
Although it was intended to be informal, it was never intended to be a free-for-all. It was informal so that it was not daunting for a new user nor tiresome for existing users. FCC rules were supposed to be observed and the primary intention was to improve the radio skills of participants while promoting GMRS usage in our area. Anywhere an individual's or the group's skills could be improved, it was to be encouraged to do so.
So, I would encourage ALL of you to continue to improve your skills without being too dogmatic about it. However, please make sure we do not disregard this very important and primary function of the Cincinnati GMRS Informal Net.

- To improve radio skills of participants
- To improve our ability to pass traffic (communicate) under difficult circumstances
- To promote friendship and good will amongst the GMRS community
- To offer a venue for GMRS questions to be asked and solutions offered
